I wanted to provide you with an update regarding anti-social behaviour from youths, which people where you live are highlighting as an issue of concern in their survey responses. Community Update- Off-Road Bikes and ASB in Wheatley Hill and Thornley **Section 59 NOTICES**
We know many of you have recently raised concerns about off-road bikes and anti-social behaviour around Wheatley Hill and Thornley. We want you to know that your local Neighbourhood Policing Team is actively on it!
Over the past weeks, officers have been carrying out targeted patrols in key areas and speaking with residents who've been affected. As part of this work, section 59 warning notices have been put up in the area. This is to deal with riders causing nuisance or using bikes illegally, as well as any vehicle being used in an anti-social manner.
The section 59 signs act as an automatic warning, meaning anyone found driving in an anti-social manner will have their vehicles seized. If the riders/drivers are caught committing any driving offences, they will also be reported for those.
What we're doing: -Increasing patrols in hotspot areas -Working with partner agencies to identify repeat offenders -Engaging with riders to explain the risks and consequences -Responding to information provided by the community
How you can help: If you see off-road bikes or vehicles being used dangerously or causing a disturbance, please report it to us. Every report helps us build the bigger picture and act more quickly.
Thank you to everyone who has already shared information- We hear you, and we're acting on it.
Let's keep our villages safe, calm, and enjoyable for everyone.
Please see the map below which shows the area in which the section 59 is in place (highlighted in red).
